TVN Hires Adoption Recruiters

February 13, 2013

Tiffany Msafiri and Holly Swartzentruber will lead TVN's mission to find forever families for children in foster care inside multiple Ohio counties. Grant money from Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption funds her position as a child-focused adoption recruiter for Wendy's Wonderful Kids, a signature program of the Foundation.

Msafiri will concentrate in Wayne and Ashland counties. She has a master's in education and work experience in community mental health and child and adolescent care.

"The idea of finding a forever family for a child in foster care is what drew me to the position,"
said Msafiri. "I look forward to researching the possibilities and making connections for healing and resiliency."

Swartzentruber's territory includes Tuscarawas, Guernsey, Belmont, Harrison, Jefferson and Carroll counties. Swartzentruber has a master's in clinical counseling.

"I have a very personal connection to forever families," said Swartzentruber. "I have an older sister who has adopted two children and another sister in the process of adopting a child."

Msafiri and Swartzentruber are two of seven recruiters TVN will put in place to cover 12 counties. Other counties include Green, Miami, Preble and Darke. All of the recruiters will follow the Wendy's Wonderful Kids model. Research results from a rigorous five-year study of the program showed Wendy's Wonderful Kids increases the likelihood of adoption by up to three times more than other recruitment methods.

Today, there are more than 100,000 children in the U.S. foster care system waiting for adoption, including over 3,000 children in Ohio. More than 1,000 children between the ages of 9-17 have been in foster care over two years.
