Foster Care Open Houses Scheduled For Harrison County
CADIZ — Anyone interested in becoming a foster parent can learn more about the process and speak to professionals and foster care parents at an open house 5:30-6:30 p.m. Jan. 10 at the Harrison Hills City Schools Administration building, 730 Peppard Ave.
The foster care open house is organized by The Village Network, a nonprofit organization that provides treatment foster care for youth who have been removed from their homes due to a variety of circumstances, including unsafe living conditions.
Children placed in treatment foster care require more than the basic care, support, love and nurturing that a traditional foster parent might provide. The Village Network trains, supports and supervises caring foster parents to provide treatment aimed at healing, teaching new coping skills and helping each individual child.
“This will be a good opportunity for people to come out and hear firsthand from parents who are doing it,” said Regional Director Mark Ingles.
Light refreshments will be served. Two more open houses have been scheduled for Feb. 5, March 5 and April 4 at the same time and location. For more information, contact Nancy Gress at 740-922-2144 or ngress(at)thevillagenetwork.com; or Ingles at 740 238-2592 or mingles(at)thevillagenetwork.com.
