Free Trainings Focus On Helping The Healing Process For Those Who Have Suffered Childhood Trauma
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — Parents, teachers, foster and adoptive parents, and members of law enforcement will be able to receive free training that focuses on how to help the healing process for those who have suffered childhood trauma.
The training, “How Can Six Rs Help to Heal Childhood Trauma,” consists of three sessions, which began Sept. 25 and continues during October and November. When community members understand and embrace a developmentally respectful framework, children are more likely to learn to regulate their emotions and behaviors, relate to others and have the ability to reason.
Understanding the impact of childhood trauma on adult health and well-being may also help the community to support adults with high adverse childhood experiences scores. All trainings will be at Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
The two-hour training sessions are offered by The Village Network, in collaboration with the Knox County Family & Children First Council and the Knox Health Planning Partnership’s Resilience Team.
Session 1 focuses on relationships and rewarding. It will next be offered 6:30 p.m. Oct. 30 in Jetter Hall, Room 133.
Session 2’s emphasis is on relevant and respectful. The next offering will be 1:15 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, in Hunter Hall, Rooms 107 and 109. Another session will be 4:15 p.m. Oct. 25 in Jetter Hall, Room 133.
Session 3 will look at repetitive and rhythmic. It will be offered twice: 4:15 p.m. Nov. 7 and 4:15 p.m. Nov. 15. Both sessions will be in Jetter Hall, Room 133.
