MEDIA ADVISORY: The Village Network Breaks Ground for New Gymnasium at Wooster Residential Campus

October 31, 2017
Basketball hoop in the old Boys' Village gym

After nearly 50 years of use, The Village Network demolished its original Boys’ Village gym and will soon break ground for its replacement, the Bob Maruna Field House. To commemorate the construction, The Village Network will host a groundbreaking ceremony and reflect on the gym’s rich history and recognize key donors involved in both the original construction and the reconstruction of the gym. During the ceremony, a youth will share his testimony about what the new gym means to him. The event will be outdoors under a tent and will take place rain or shine. Boxed lunches for attendees will also be provided.

WHO: The Village Network Wooster Residential Campus

WHAT: Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Bob Maruna Field House

WHERE: 2803 Akron Rd. Wooster, OH 44691

WHEN: Tuesday, Nov. 7 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

WHY: To commemorate the groundbreaking of the Bob Maruna Field House

Danielle McCoy, development director at The Village Network, will introduce media to the speakers. We ask that all media approach an employee of The Village Network prior to interviewing a youth. Media are not permitted to use any part of a youth’s name nor show their face on camera or in pictures. This is for the child’s safety and confidentiality.

For more information, or for news organizations interested in covering this event, contact Danielle McCoy, development director at The Village Network at (216) 374-8531 or dmccoy@thevillagenetwork.com.
